Programs & Services
SACC Subs
We have volunteers seven days a week. The SACC Subs program is a volunteer effort designed to assist Animal Control during after-hours by responding to reports of found pets. Volunteers focus on safely containing healthy and non-aggressive pets, aiming to alleviate the workload for Animal Control during times when they may not be readily available. This initiative fosters community engagement, providing a collaborative approach to pet welfare. Through proper training and reporting, SACC Subs contribute to the overall well-being of pets in the community by ensuring swift and effective assistance.
Senior for Senior- is a new program
The Senior for Senior Program is a heartwarming initiative designed to facilitate the adoption of senior pets from our organization by senior citizens in the community. Recognizing the immense joy and companionship that older animals can bring to the lives of seniors, our program not only encourages but actively supports the adoption of senior pets. To make this transition smoother, we offer assistance in providing necessary food and supplies for these adopted senior pets. Furthermore, participating veterinary clinics extend a considerate 10% discount on all visits for seniors who have welcomed a senior pet into their homes through our program. This initiative aims to create a win-win situation, giving senior pets loving homes while enriching the lives of senior citizens through the joy and comfort of animal companionship.
Therapy Dogs
Therapy dogs bring comfort and joy to various community settings, including hospitals, schools, and nursing homes. Trained to provide emotional support, therapy dogs contribute to the well-being of individuals facing physical or emotional challenges. These programs harness the unique bond between humans and animals, promoting mental health and community connectedness.
Low Cost Spay/Neuter
Spaying or neutering is one of the best things you can do for your pet, your family, and the community.
Spaying or neutering your pet will prevent them from having offspring, which will help with pet overpopulation. Pet overpopulation is a huge problem around the world, and leads to approximately 3 to 4 million animals being euthanized in the United States every year. In Virginia alone, 100,000 animals in shelters were killed last year. Many of these pets were euthanized because shelters simply do not have enough resources to care for them all. Over the course of a few years, a pet and her offspring can give birth to hundreds of animals. There are just too many animals born. The only way to stop this cycle is to have your pet spayed or neutered. Spaying and neutering saves lives!
